• What is the cost of Layer manure compared to commercial fertilizer?​

AGS will sell the layer manure FOB, which means if  you want to haul your own to save money, you will be able to.

Belt trailers work well and typically have more capacity to haul more tons

• Can I spread my own?

​

As a grower, if you have spreading equipment capable of spreading layer manure, you may do so.   

     

• What is the analysis of layer manure?

​

There are several sources available and range in analysis from 40-65-30 to 100-80-40.  These are listed as NPK in Pounds per ton.

• What is the moisture content of Layer Manure?

​

We have other sources that are from varying production facilities and can range from 30-50% moisture.  The nutrients are not as concentrated due to moisture but will still provide a good source of N, P, K, S and other essential micro-nutrients. Again, the Layer Manure will be priced according to nutrient composition

AGS has sources of Layer Manure that have gone through a drying process.  This product is the most nutrient dense because most of the moisture has been removed.  This material is typically about 15-20% moisture

• Does this manure qualify as Organic?

​

This manure will qualify to be applied to Organic Certified Crops but will have withdrawal restrictions for food crops.  Usually no application within 120 days of harvest for vegetable and fruit crops.

• What if I plant Corn/Corn rotation?

​

Layer manure is perfectly suited for Corn/Corn rotation.  The timing of Nitrogen release will be available during plant demand of Nitrogen.  Also, layer manure will accelerate breakdown of crop residue.

Rates per acre for corn/corn rotation usually allow 3-4 tons per acre of Layer Manure.

• Will Layer Manure interfere with anything else that I apply to my fields and crops?​

​

​ No, as a matter of fact, Layer Manure will enhance any other treatments due to its positive impact on soil health.
